Granny Green's Big Day Out
Granny Greens will be setting up a wee crafting corner on Sunday, drop in and learn some new skills, make something and have a natter, I hear they may even share their sweets!
They will be teaching the basics of different crafts, including knitting, crochet and cross-stitch and will also be surrounded by examples of the fabulous things they make. Bring along your own project, something you're stuck with, or come completely unprepared and take home a little kit to get you started.
Granny Greens is a fabulous group who meet weekly at Fredericks Coffee House, Edinburgh to craft, plus they hold monthly workshops, book groups, film groups, tastings and talks!

Silverhub Studios
My friend (and, I might add amazing jeweller) Lisa Arnott has just opened Silverhub Studios, a new resource for aspiring and established jewellery designers in Edinburgh. Based on Leith Walk there are 10 permanent benches and 6 open access benches available to rent plus a whole host of equipment available to use including pegs, saws, files, pliers, doming punches and blocks, hammers, tumbler, barrel polisher, ultrasound cleaner, rolling mill, pillar drill, pendant drill, enamelling kiln and more.....PLUS books and magazines for reference. I love the ethos of the open plan skill sharing and this would be such an amazing place to work in....
It's such a beautiful, central, amazing space and I'm so proud of Lisa for realising her dream - so jewellers - go forth and occupy!

Say hello to.....
Steph Marsden of Magpie Design Industries and Craft House Concept!
Steph works mainly in wood to create stunning furniture and design-led accessories. Her 'Magpie' range uses salvaged and scrap materials, recycled plastics, locally sourced Scottish hardwoods and FSC certified products.
In 2010 Steph set up Craft House Concept, where she sources and sells fabulous hand crafted homewares.
Steph will be joining us on 8th May (this Sunday) with select products from Magpie Design Industries and Craft House Concept. She will also be passing on some of her crafty knowledge and running a drop in marquetry workshop from her stall. You can make your very own 'barcode' coaster for just £5.00. Just drop by Steph's stall on Sunday to take part!

Are you an early bird?
The Magpie ladies have lined up a few treats for all of you early birds...
We have some fabulous goody bags with some little treats from our stall holders for the first people through the door.
PLUS....the bit we're most excited about....we will be joined by The Horndog Brass Band (a favourite of Sir Sean Connery don't you know) who will provide a rather fabulous funky introduction to Magpie! Unfortunately they're busy dogs, so if you snooze you lose as they can only be with us for a while.

For all you night owls and slow coaches don't fear as there's still plenty to do later in the day. We'll save you some cake in the 'pop-up' cafe, there will still be some fabulous tunes playing whilst you shop and there will be lots of hand made and vintage treats for you to snap up!

Our favourites are his intricately hand painted Russian dolls - currently we love the sailors, but (not so) secretly want them all - Adam & Eve, a brass band, dragons.... But there will also be cards, prints and art books for your pleasure!

I've just added the Magpie Application form to the blog in the form of it's own page over there ----->
I think it makes the whole application process a lot easier and more transparent. Be sure to read the terms and conditions, which are also over there --->
Not long left until the closing date for Mays market, so get applying!
