Heart Handmade

Give me your heart.....

Following my earlier post about Blood Tea and Red String Magpie have been asked to contribute to the theming of the event by creating some anatomical hearts to hang from a tree.....I won't go into more detail for fear of revealing some important plot elements....

They can be knitted, stitched, felted or whatever you feel like....

There's now only a week to go until the screening! Eeep! So knit and stitch as fast as you can!!

If you think you can help out please let us know. magpiemarket(at)gmail(dot)com. We can even point you in the direction of some patterns.....

And the winner is.....

We just loved Gabrielles entries and couldn't decide between these two. Before a fight broke out over cups of tea and scones we decided that both could be used for different applications! So we now have two little mascots, I was thinking of naming them, but maybe Spider and Fly works perfectly anyway? and an amazing logo which I think encapsulates our ethos of sharing ideas and skills with it's speech bubble shape.

They will be appearing soon on our new website!

Check out Gabrielles website http://g-r-a.co.uk to see more of her beautiful work. And obviously come down to the shop when we pop-up to see more!

Blood Tea and Red String

Thirteen years in the making, Blood Tea And Red String by filmmaker and artist Christiane Cegavske is essentially a tale of loving that which we cannot have.
A handmade stop-motion fairytale for adults, this dialogue free tale tells of the struggle between the aristocratic white mice and the rustic Creatures Who Dwell Under The Oak over the doll of their hearts desire. A heart rending musical score composed and performed by Mark Growden accompanies this disturbing and wondrous adventure. Presented by curator Bren O’Callaghan.

Ok so this looks AMAZING! Bren contacted me to tell me about this and I jumped straight over to here to book tickets....which even more amazingly are free!

To make it even more magical the gallery space will be themed and offering doll makeovers and free cupcakes and blood tea courtesy of Lizzie's Tea Party

It's turning into a mini-Magpie trip out and we'd love you to come along too! Bren also suggested it would be rather fabulous if you brought some kind of knitting or stitching to do whilst watching. Sounds perfect!

Come and tell us if you're coming on the facebook event page

There's more....

Bren is looking for artists, set designers, graphic designers to contribute to the event check here for details
